Beyond hope... and fear.

Hope and fear are two sides of the same coin. One can't exist without the other.

When we brush our teeth in the morning, we don't hope for them to be healthy. Nor are we afraid that they would go bad. We just know that if we brush regularly, things would most likely take care of themselves.

Hope and fear come out of uncertainty and our unwillingness to make peace with it.

Moving beyond them gives us agency. We act. We don't hope. We don't fear. We just do.

This allows us to make assertions. If I do this, this might happen. Not "I hope this happens". Or "I am afraid if that does not happen". Just that this might happen.

Does this ruffle some feathers inside you? Which hope do you feel afraid to let go of? Which fear are you hoping doesn't come true?

How would you feel if you let go of both? The hope, and the fear?
