Caught in a loop.
Breathing happens in a loop. Thankfully. Every out-breath follows an in-breath without needing much from us.
Same with the heartbeat. Virtuous loops that keep us alive.
But there are not-so-virtuous loops all around us as well. Some by default, many by design.
You eat one processed packet of chips. Your blood glucose spikes and then crashes. You can't resist but reach out for another one.
You play one YouTube video. Another one shows up in the recommendations. You decide to play just one more.
Same with reels. And now with AI bots. On and on and on.
These treadmills around us are what takes our attention and energy away from the things that matter.
The thing with loops is that you can't just go around it once. Every round makes it more likely that you stay in the loop. Unless, of course, you are completely drained.
When faced with a loop, the decision is simple. Do you want to do it a hundred times (and more)? If not, let's not even begin.
