Hidden wisdom.

Suffering is the body's mechanism to guide you towards something you need to do.

Hunger is a suffering mechanism. When the body needs food, you feel restless. Until you eat something nourishing.

So are thirst, tiredness, and fatigue.

The central nervous system is significantly more intelligent than the conscious amygdala-driven left brain. It keeps assessing both internal and external circumstances and gives us signals to act.

Drinking water when hungry doesn't reduce your hunger. Nor does eating help when you are thirsty.

Identifying why we are suffering and what will get us out of it is the key.

It's rarely huge. A small step in the right direction starts reducing suffering immediately. Just like if you start cooking, you start feeling better as the system knows you are moving in the right direction.

The signals are also amplified by urgency. A little hunger to begin with, but it keeps increasing as we delay eating.

Same with all other things.

Including creativity and connection.

These are things your body needs just like food, water and oxygen.

The one thing we can do to shift things is listen to our suffering instead of ignoring it. It will tell us what to do next.
