Waiting for permission.
If you want to be a graphic designer at a startup, why don't you start designing graphics for them already? If you want to lead the fund raising for an non-profit, why aren't you doing that already? If you want to build a connection with others, why don't you act as if you are connected already?
The imposter syndrome forces us to wait for permission, to be selected, to put off our generous work. But that doesn't help anyone.
What helps is to show up, to do the work for work's sake, and to let the other side do its thing.
Waiting for permission is a relic of the previous century. You can keep waiting but, just like Godot, it's not going to show up.
