Being busy.

Maintaining the status quo is a busy job. It's a cul-de-sac, a dead end. No matter what you do and how much you do, it's never done.

Changing the status quo, on the other hand, is different. It requires intention and courage. It's about identifying the one action step that changes things, that moves things in a different direction.

We can spend a lot of time waiting for us to get done with maintaining the status quo before we take action on changing it. The only way to do it is to focus on changing it first.
