The dorsal vagal collapse.
This is when our bodies and minds go into the freeze or flop mode.
Freeze is when we can't speak when the teacher asks us a question (even when we know the answer). Flop is when we are not even able to get out of bed for days.
This happens when the nervous system feels stuck. When the anxiety spiral leads us to a point where we see no way forward.
How do we come out of it then?
One way is to allow the collapse to happen. To let the body freeze or flop. Let it rest and recover.
Once we stop resisting the collapse, we can start finding our way to the other side.
