Two truths and a lie.
Pretension may be a requisite for our social etiquette.
We stay in meetings long after our body gives up. We go to parties that drain us. We hangout with people who make us miserable.
We rationalise. We adjust. We cooperate.
In short, we lie.
We pretend to be comfortable when we are not. We do things that we don't want to do. We agree to things we want to rebel against.
We choose to lie instead of staying with the truth.
But why?
Because, it always feels easier to lie than to say the truth. It keeps the peace. It helps things stay calm. It's better for everyone. Isn't it?
It isn't.
When we lie, our bodies don't like it. They get hurt. It's not that there is no pain when we lie. It's just that we have gotten used to it.
Because we are so used to living like this, imagining a life where we don't lie seems challenging if not impossible. But it might be worth trying.
What would not lying look like for you? What would it feel like?
Even if you are not ready to tell others the truth, do you want to start with yourself?
What if the game we play becomes... two truths and no lie?
Integrity is the cure for unhappiness. Period.
